Iconic City Jam street art festival confirms Southend City BID as key sponsor

Southend City Jam 2023 is delighted to announce that Southend City BID will again sponsor this year’s iconic street art festival.

Due to the overwhelming success of last year’s debut festival, which saw over a hundred local, national, and international artists take part, City Jam 2023 is set to return this year between 1 and 3 September.

The free celebration of street art is being organised by Southend-on-Sea City Council and Southend Tourism Partnership, alongside local artists Karl Sims and Steve Hart, who have championed street art in Southend for decades.

Confirmed sponsors, Southend City Business Improvement District (BID), have been delivering projects for the past decade based on priorities of businesses which have created a strong platform for growth. The BID has brought together businesses in the City and empowered them, giving them more of a say in the City’s development and management strategy.

Suzanne Gloyne, Southend City BID Manager, said: “We are very excited to be involved again as sponsors of City Jam 2023, because last year’s festival has left a great mark on the City, not only for the enjoyment of the weekend, but how the legacy artwork continues to enhance the area.

“We think this year’s festival can be bigger and better and a huge boost to the local economy. The festival’s return will also continue the legacy of artwork that brightens up our street scene for all residents and visitors to enjoy.”

With applications now open, artists from across the world are already queuing up to be involved in Southend City Jam 2023 and many of last year’s artists are eager to return, proving the festival was as popular with the artists as it was with the public.

Cllr Carole Mulroney, cabinet member for environment, culture and tourism, added: “Securing Southend City BID as sponsors is a huge boost to this year’s festival because without their support and the support of others, it would be difficult to host the festival on the scale we want and achieve the success of last year.

“We want to encourage even more businesses to get involved and there are lots of ways to do that with numerous sponsorship packages that can be tailored to suit various budgets and needs. Sponsorship is a great opportunity to align with a high-profile festival and get your business promoted to a wider audience.”
